Our commitment

We are dedicated to providing a safe online environment for all users. We protect your information and aim to be transparent about how the App works, what data is used, and what choices you have.

The Socratic Coach App (“the App”) is our main interactive experience. While we treat coaching sessions with care and discretion, the App uses technology services to function. This policy explains what is shared, what is stored, and what is not.

1) What the App is (and is not)

The Socratic Coach App, a Root to Rise experience powered by The Human Coach, offers reflective coaching questions to support your thinking and personal insight.

The App is not counseling, therapy, medical care, legal advice, or crisis support.

If you are experiencing an emergency or feel unsafe, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional right away.

2) Information you provide

When you use the App, you may type messages during a coaching session. This includes:

• Your responses (what you type)

• The AI-generated coaching responses shown to you

3) What data the App uses

The App uses:

• Chat messages: what you type and the AI responses shown to you

The App does not require an account login and does not collect your name or email address at this time.

4) Where data goes

To generate responses:

• Your messages are sent to OpenAI (through our backend) to generate an AI response.

• The AI response is returned to the App.

To allow conversations to continue across sessions:

• Your conversation (your messages + AI responses) is stored in our Convex database so it can persist across app sessions.

5) What we store (and what we do not store)

Stored on our backend (Convex)
We store during a session only:

• Conversation messages, including:

  • Your answers

  • AI coaching responses

Purpose: This allows your conversation to persist across app sessions.

Not stored on our backend (local-only)
The following are created on your device and are not stored on our backend or shared with third parties:

• Saved notes (stored only on your device)

• Session summaries (generated on your device)

Important note about session completion
When you click “Return to Home Screen,” the coaching conversation is deleted from our backend. Notes and summaries remain local-only, and you may export them to your device if you choose the App button that provides that option.

6) What we do not sell

We do not sell your information.

7) Your choices and responsible use

You are in control of what you type.

Please avoid entering sensitive personal information such as:

• Medical details

• Financial account numbers

• Government ID numbers

• Passwords or other highly sensitive identifiers

8) Your controls (deletion requests)

You can inquire about deletion of stored conversation data by emailing:

When you email, please include:

• Subject line: Deletion Request

• Approximate dates of use (to help us locate the data)

• Coaching conversations are deleted when you end your session. As an additional safeguard, all data is automatically purged within 24 hours. You can also manually delete all data at any time from the Support screen.

9) Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect stored conversation data. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

10) Children

The Socratic Coach App is not intended for children under 13 and is most appropriate for people 18+.

If you are under 18, please get permission from a parent or guardian before using the App.
